Upset Stomach Remedies
How To Reduce Your Dependence On Upset Stomach Remedies
We live very busy lives and often do not take the necessary time to eat and properly digest our food. For this reason there are many people who will take upset stomach remedies of some sort almost everyday. This should not be necessary.
The process of digestion is quite delicate and can easily become unbalanced. The result is that we suffer pain. We may not always be able to avoid an upset stomach, but we can take steps to minimise them.
The more steps you take to maximise your digestion the less often you will need to take upset stomach remedies, and when you do need then they will be more effective.
The process of digestion actually begins before eating. Our brains send messages to our stomachs when it thinks we will eat, so that the stomach can produce the necessary digestive juices to break down the food efficiently. This means that large quantities of unexpected food will be harder to digest than expected food.
The solution to this is to eat at regular times, so your body will know when to expect the food and will be prepared.
It is important to drink plenty of fluids as well. The best choice is water. A lack of fluids can cause two different problems. Firstly the stomach may have difficulty in breaking down the food and will overproduce hydrochloric acid, causing heart burn. Or secondly a lack of fluids can cause constipation. Both of these are very uncomfortable and reducing these symptoms are big steps forward towards a healthy digestive track.
It is impossible to discuss upset stomach remedies without touching on the subject of caffeine. Caffeine can be very useful as it contains antioxidants which can be very helpful, but it also has its disadvantages. Caffeine and food do not really mix. The caffeine is a stimulant and can interfere with the process of digestion. I am certainly not going to suggest that everyone avoids caffeine, but it should be consumed in moderation.
Emotions can also affect our digestion, and if you are trying to reduce your dependence on upset stomach remedies then this is certainly worth considering. Although we are controlled by our emotions and this is hard to change, but some of the emotions linked to bad digestion are more controllable. For example stress and tension can be causal in upset stomachs. Try to make space mentally to eat. By this I mean remove distractions such as the telephone, do not eat at your desk where you are constantly bombarded with work. These all make you more stressed as you constantly have to prioritize and this stops your brain and body focussing on digesting.
Eating should be a pleasure, so it is important to treat it as one and reduce ones dependence on upset stomach remedies.
